This webinar is being organised by the IWA Microbial Ecology in Water Engineering, Anaerobic Digestion, and Modelling and Integrated Assessment Specialist Groups.
The engineering of microbial ecosystems for wastewater treatment and sustainable process development can greatly benefit from strong theory and mathematical modelling tools capable of describing their underlying fundamental processes. The natural complexity of microbial ecosystems both in natural and engineered settings requires innovative unconventional approaches to model their key interactions, especially those that are relevant towards successful engineering of these microbial communities. This webinar will present four unconventional modelling approaches for microbial ecosystems, providing a chance for enriching discussions and new ideas beyond traditional models used in wastewater treatment and other microbial applications.
