Modeling pesticide runoff from urban hard surfaces and urban areas

Global urbanisation leads to worldwide increase of hard surfaces.

Urban runoff can be a significant source of pesticides in urban water, due to the increasing fraction of urban hard surfaces and the frequent use of pesticides for urban weed and pest control. This study aims to characterize and simulate pesticide behaviors and runoff from various hard surfaces using monitoring and modeling approaches, based on which a spatially-distributed urban pesticide runoff model was developed.
