The DEMOWARE initiative is an FP7 EU research project which aims at demonstrating that water reuse is a competitive and safe water supply option. Demonstration takes place at nine existing and one greenfield site. Quantitative microbial risk assessment is used at five different water reuse sites to demonstrate the effectiveness of existing reduction measures, to implement risk based management approaches and to contribute the methodological specifications of implementing QMRA in water reuse cases. Special focus was put on the quantitative combination of different sources of information to find transparent and reproducible solutions for cases of limited data availability.
