Agenda 2063, the continent’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into a global powerhouse of the future, also addresses issues related to access to safe drinking water and sanitation as a pathway towards sustainable development. Agenda 2063 encapsulates Africa’s Aspirations for the future and identifies critical Flagship Programmes that can boost Africa’s economic growth and development and lead to the rapid transformation of the continent. Thus, the webinar will reflect on African research, development, and innovation activities to improve access to clean water and sanitation, zero hunger, and access to affordable and clean energy. The three goals address Aspiration 1 of Agenda 2063, “Prosperous Africa, based on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development”, and the Sustainable Development Goals 2, 6 and 7. The three form the water-energy-food WEF) nexus.
