Following a workshop on the digital water solutions to support European water policies held during the 19th conference of EU-INBO, Fiware4Water is taking the opportunity to carry on the exchange in a series of online workshops. The first in the series will be on socio-political and citizen engagement on digital water scheduled on 7 January 2022 from 14:00 to 15:30.

The overall approach of citizens engagement will be presented by Kate Baker, from the University of Exeter. The mayor of Great Torrington (UK), and representatives of Local Water Forum from Amsterdam, Athens and Uganda will share their lessons learnt. Richard Elelman from EURECAT will highlight the importance of citizen engagement in environmental policies. Based on these short presentations, debates will be facilitated on the definition of the term ‘citizen engagement’, the disadvantages of such an approach, and how citizen engagement can be employed in a larger scale such as river basin.
